How to Make Your Etsy Shop a Success - A Beginners Guide

Image
I'm learning. I'm a new shop owner, only starting this past October having only been a buyer before. I always had this weird fear in the back of my mind that if I branched out and started selling my photography, I would lose my passion for it. I was wrong. So wrong. If anything, putting myself out there and sharing my work has reignited my love for this art and seeing others enjoy what I do... that's a huge bonus. From the beginning, I knew it wouldn't be as simple as posting my listings and having instant success. What I didn't realize though is that you HAVE to put as much time and effort into marketing as you do into creating your merchandise. People need to know that your shop exists. You have to find your niche and connect with them. You have to take advantage of social media, SEO, word of mouth... all of these things. It sounds daunting and scary, but it's not. It's a process. Just like creating your art is a process, marketing it is as well. It...

Pen Pals

Image
When I was a child, I loved to write to my pen pals. I had a few... ranging from kids my own age right here in America to a young boy who lived in Germany and even an elderly man who wrote articles for our local fishing newspaper. I just loved writing. I loved learning about other people and their lives, where they lived, what they liked to do. I loved going out to the mailbox every day, hoping that there was an envelope waiting for me. It was fun, exciting, educational and to this day, I have kept contact with one of my pen pals and through social media have been able to keep in touch with her and watch her family grow from half way across the country - all thanks to being pen pals when we were children. I wonder if kids these days still have pen pals? Do they take the time to put pen to paper and then wait for "old fashioned" snail mail to be delivered? I know that when I mail anything to my cousin's son, he gets so incredibly excited when the envelope is addressed to...

Dazed & Amazed

Do you ever find yourself in awe of the talent and vision that other artists have? I do. All the time. Art has always interested me. I remember being a teenager, growing up on Long Island, hopping on the train into NYC with my boyfriend just to spend the day visiting the museums and taking in as much art as I could. My focus became photography, but that doesn't stop me from spending hours upon hours, browsing through Instagram and Etsy, being amazed at the work of other artists. All mediums interest me. Photography. Mixed media. Painting of all types. Paper art. You name it, I find it interesting. Sometimes a piece just speaks to my heart. It will evoke a feeling in me, stir a memory, make me want to own it. That isn't always possible. Things aren't always for sale. When they are though, especially when created and sold by a small business such as my own, I'm all about supporting the artist. I recently made such a purchase. I follow the IG account of a fellow Etsy mak...

Get Well Soon

Image
Just like every other year, I heard that this would be a "bad flu season"... took it with a grain of salt and shrugged it off. That's what they always say. Well, all of a sudden it seems like everyone I know is sick. Luckily, hubby and I are healthy as of right now and I sincerely hope we stay that way. If this "flu season" has hit your area and those you love, consider a beautiful, handmade Get Well card from my collection. Not only will it make them feel good, knowing you are thinking of them but you can also send them well wishes via good ol' snail mail and not have to get anywhere near those nasty germs. Sounds like a win win to me!  Get Well Soon Floral Card Get Well Soon Tobyhanna Falls Get Well Soon Chipmunk Get Well Soon Deer Get Well Soon Beltzville Lake Get Well Soon Wildflowers Get Well Soon Milkweed Blossoms Get Well Soon Wild Blueberries
