On a cold Winter day....

It was -5°F this morning. There is snow on the ground. We've been stuck in this arctic air for what seems like an eternity now. As much as I'd love to be out exploring, hiking with my husband and rescue pup, that's just not possible right now. So instead, I've been creating. Creating cards with the images I captured during the warmer weather. Remembering all the fun times, every magical moment... and those memories will sustain me until we are able to get out and about again.

As I put my newest creations together today, I can't help but hope... hope that my photographs will bring others joy. That they will be sent and given with love. I picture the smiles they bring to faces that I'll never see. That they bring people together and help them connect in a way that many of us have seem to have forgotten how to do. To me, a hand-written note or a card chosen specifically for a certain person because it "spoke" to the person giving it... that's special. It's so much more personal than a text or an email. Taking a moment to choose that perfect card, putting pen to paper to say what you want to say from your heart... it's a lost art. I want to bring that back. I promise that your heartfelt words will stay with the person you are writing to FOREVER.

During WWII, my grandfather was stationed in Europe. In the midst of war, he put his pen to paper and wrote this beautiful poem/letter to my grandmother. I feel so lucky to have this copy of his words, in his beautiful handwriting - long after both he and my grandmother are gone. Words that came from the heart that not only stayed with my grandparents forever, but now with me forever as well.
